Look beyond two Sun signs

Comparing only two Sun signs leaves much of both charts unexplored. The Sun may offer themes about identity, while the Moon can prompt questions about emotional safety and instinctive responses. They are different perspectives, not a verdict on whether two people belong together.

Calculate each chart with that person’s own birth details. If either time is unknown, keep the uncertainty around rising, houses and planets that change signs that day. Comparing two charts does not remove the limits of either person’s starting information.

Talk about communication, affection and disagreement

Mercury can start a discussion about listening, learning and making decisions. Venus offers themes around showing affection and what each person values. Mars invites reflection on initiative, assertion and asking for what you want.

Turn those symbols into practical questions. How do you ask for space? What helps you feel heard? How would you prefer to handle a disagreement? The person’s actual answers matter more than assumptions based on a planetary placement.

What synastry means

Synastry compares two charts and the angular relationships, called aspects, between their placements. A more detailed reading may also look at houses when both birth times are reliable. It is an astrological interpretation method, not a validated relationship assessment.

This website’s free calculator creates individual birth charts. It does not calculate synastry or a couple score. You can explore each person’s placements here and find other relationship experiences in the Astraia app.

Leave room for the people

Similar placements do not guarantee understanding, and different placements do not condemn a relationship. Circumstances, boundaries, communication and shared decisions remain important to what you build together over time.

Use the reading as support for a voluntary conversation. Ask before using someone else’s birth details, and let each person decide what to share or keep from an interpretation. Disagreeing with a description is allowed; nobody needs to fit themselves into a chart.
